Weekly Awesome 9.28

September 29, 2011

I got nothing else for you. Also this post is one day late. Basically, I suck.

Actually, on Monday I had a health issue caused by the incredible amounts of stress I’ve been under this year and I’ve been trying to catch up and recover since then. So I apologize for bringing you nothing else this week. 2011 can bite me.

In the mean time I leave you with this image which makes my heart sing. This woman is beautiful. Her silver hair, her soft skin, her veins making a map of life as her blood flows through her. Holding a new person. Both ends of life, together, drawing strength and love from each other. Completing the circle of beauty.

UPDATE: Someone far smarter than I pointed out that if you click links you find more information (who knew?!) and that this is actually a sculpture by Sam Jinks.  You can see more of his awesome stuff here.  When I get old I wanna be the last lady on that page.  Oh yeah.

Peace.

If you’re 1 day late every week, soon you’ll be on time again. Don’t worry about it! Beautiful picture :)

One of my most precious pictures of my daughter is from when she was 3 months old. We went to Ohio for the wedding of my best friend, and went out of our on the way home to go introduce the baby to my grandmother. She was 92 years old. We have a beautiful picture of her cradling Rowan and smiling at her.

Two months after that picture was taking, my grandmother was hospitalized with fluid in her lungs, and she passed three weeks later. Rowan was her 5th great-grandchild and the last she got to meet. We almost didn’t stop to see her that day and I will never cease being greatful that we made that decision and got that picture.
