~Stuff I pinned on my TIAW, and Wisdom. (And you may like some of my other boards, too.)
~I love how language evolves. I also, like, love the idea that young women are trendsetters in it. One comment n the article I found telling – particularly because it was intended to be innocuous – was this one: “If women do something like uptalk or vocal fry, it’s immediately interpreted as insecure, emotional or even stupid.” Ah, but couldn’t that be said of too many things women do? Sexism is insidious.
~Speaking of language evolving (isn’t it funny how these posts often come together? I don’t plan it that way!), I kind of love the idea of ditching the whole Miss/Mrs. thing. After the initial shock of OMG HOW DARE THEY DO CHANGE TO ME? I really do love the idea of women having an identity that has absolutely nothing to do with if they are married or not. Men have only “Mr.” no matter their age or marital status. I think it would be more equal if we had the same.
~Don’t wish a miscarriage on anyone. Ever.
~Lizzie is my new hero. (Thanks to Tabitha for the link on Facebook.)
I don’t honestly think I can top that last link with anymore Awesome. So go forth and have a beautiful day!
.
As my boards continue to grow in number (this week I added a board for Beautiful People and one for noses. Because I like noses. Why? Is that weird? Heh.) I wish I could just dump all the applicable ones into one group to share with those of you who are not interested in also seeing all my Doctor Who pins (of which there is a plethora). What I can do, which is only slightly less inconvenient for you, if to link to you all of my boards and you can pick the ones that are interesting to you.
~Disney, I am so seriously disappointed in you. Thank god this isn’t at DisneyLAND. For your sake, I mean. Because, Disney, my nine-year-old daughter would stand around outside it loudly schooling everyone within earshot on her feelings on this exhibit.
~I like what this article says about the leggings-as-pants debate. Ultimately, it’s not for one woman to decide what another should wear.
~In the same vein, here’s an article about taking back horizontal stripes. And, somewhat unrelated, boy do I have boot-envy now. (And also somewhat unrelated? There’s totally a Doctor Who reference in there so it’s like my geekness totally married my feminism and had a baby and that baby is this article. And it has awesome yellow Docs.)
~Small boobs are awesome. Somewhat related: I went 20’s to my high school prom and, inspired by a gag in Thoroughly Modern Millie based on how pearls lay on large breasts, I decided to flatten my boobs for the authentic flapper look. I don’t have any problem with my own boob size, but I also love small boobs and it was fun (well, and painful) to have differently sized, er, fronts that night.
~Incredible photos taken with the goal of helping the women “see past who they think they are.”
~If you read only one link from this post this week, read this one. And then bookmark it and refer back to it when you need to.

Today is so far SO MUCH BETTER than yesterday. Which is strange. Since it’s Thursday. But that’s OK. I’m gonna take it. I hope you all are having much less stabby days, too. And if not, just remember: Thursday doesn’t last forever.
~Don’t Carpe Diem. This is my new favorite post and I think I need to make myself read it daily until I have the whole thing memorized. It’s written by a mom about her parenting, but honestly, it’s stuff all os us can benefit from. Life is hard. It’s short, but we need to respect and honor the shit parts of it by not carpe-ing every single moment. Carpe a couple of kronoses every day instead. (Also related: Madeleine L’Engle wrote often about chronos/kairos so this article was a shoe in for me before I even started reading it.)
~Since when is “clitoris” an offensive word?
~I think this is such a fantastic idea. Making a bald Barbie to broaden beauty ideals. It’s intended specifically for kids who must undergo chemotherapy, but really, couldn’t we all benefit from it?
~Levi’s jeans now come in sizes small, small and small! /sarcasm.
~My awesome friend Jill (of The Unnecesarean) just launched a new website about cesarean rates in the US. Here’s an interview she did with About.com. She’s so full of awesome, I want you to go forth and spread the word.
