The Shape of a Mother The Shape of a Mother The Shape of a Mother The Shape of a Mother The Shape of a Mother

Disclaimer

Because it comes up over and over and over and over again. Because I am tired of repeating myself so I wanted a page I could just link to. Because I find it frustrating that people are so opposed to actually accepting people, in all their differences.

So here’s my disclaimer:
Just because I accept and even LOVE bodies that are overweight doesn’t mean I promote poor health habits. Period. End of story.

The fact is that there are so many aspects to why a person may be overweight. I’ve known so many, many women – myself included – to live healthy lifestyles, eating whole food diets and exercising regularly, who remain overweight. There are so many factors to the way a person’s body holds on to fat – thyroid, other hormone conditions, or food sensitivities to name just a few. There are also factors to how much a person can live an active lifestyle – certain illnesses or chronic pain can limit the amount of exercise a person can do. And there’s the emotional aspect of things like overeating – does it do any good at all to tell a person they aren’t good enough when they may already be struggling internally with much bigger issues than their size? NO. LOVE, unconditional LOVE, is the only thing that can help in a situation like that. And that includes loving themselves wholly, body and all, no matter the size.

So eat well. Move as much as you can. And love yourself no matter what. THAT is what I aim to promote with this website.

And guess what? The opposite holds true, too. Just because a woman may be thin and angular doesn’t mean she is less worthy of love. Just like I said above, there are so many reasons behind underweight and they aren’t all eating disorders. We are not here to judge other women based on their body size or shape, we are here to support each other and kick off this shit that society throws at us, implying we aren’t good enough for any of a thousand reasons. Because that is the problem, and we just muddy the issue by getting caught up in body size and shape and our various judgments of them.

Again:
Eat well. Move as much as you can. And love yourself no matter what. THAT is what I aim to promote with this website.

Share the love, ladies. ♥
