.

I love that image above of Bethany Hamilton and the actress who played her. I love how very different people can be. Two, beautiful woman, standing next to each other, at either and of the spectrum. Amazing.

On to the other stuff!

~Stuff I pinned at my TIAW and Wisdom boards.
~This story has gone viral this week: school administrators in St. Louis have told a sixth grader to get a breast reduction to make the bullies stop picking on her. I mean. Wow. Wrong on so many levels. But the core issue is, once again, blaming the victim, and supporting the bullies.
~Want to be a CEO? Better have the right BMI. Cause everyone knows fatties can’t be intelligent, capable people. /sarcasm.
~From an article about skin-bleaching: “Black people are seen as dangerous; that’s why I don’t like being black. People treat me better now because I look like I’m white.” Essentially I see this as the same story as the first one in this roundup. Heck. All three of these stories have a basis in the same thing: If you don’t look the way I want you to, I’ll make you feel like shit until you change the way you look. GAH.
~It’s like this week’s Awesome is writing itself. Here’s an article about meaning versus happiness. Happiness is temporary. Meaning may come from difficulties and may not feel happy at all, but is, ultimately, more rewarding. Looking for a quick fix in a breast reduction or skin bleaching isn’t going to actually STOP the bullies. We have to suffer through a lot of hard work while we FIX this problem. Which is the entire premise of SOAM and TIAW.
~And on a very different note, in honor of Roe v. Wade’s 40th anniversary this week, here’s a very personal story about the abortion decision.

Really? Which spectrum??? The height spectrum? If it’s any other specturum then I am not in the same universe.

Height and body frame. I thought, given the site’s reputation, that was obvious. I’m sorry I wasn’t more clear. :)
