It’s SOAM’s Birthday!

July 5, 2011

Five years ago today, SOAM was born. I’m celebrating by running a contest both here and there. This one’s easy – just leave a comment here and you are entered to win a copy of Fifty Nude Women, which is one of my favorite resources on this topic and I cannot recommend it highly enough. You may enter both contests (but I’ll make sure there’s only one winner). I’ll run both contests until this Friday at midnight and I’ll announce the winners on Saturday Monday. The winners will have until midnight on Monday Wednesday to get me their addresses, or I’ll choose another winner.

Good luck!

UPDATE: Contest closed, winner announced!

That’s vaginal! And so are you!

June 28, 2011

I came across this video on The Unnecesarean’s Facebook page today. Jill is one of my favorite people on the planet. For the work she does and for her sense of humor. So I wanted to pass this on because not only is it hilarious, but it’s also absolutely serious – we DO need to own the awesomeness of our vaginas.

Keep in mind that this is from Summer’s Eve which I think is somewhat of a conflict of interest since how awesome can you think vaginas are if your entire business is built around the idea that they are dirty? Even so, I feel that this video, and it’s message, is totally vaginal.

190

June 23, 2011

That’s what I weigh. I read this last night and loved it. I think we tend to think too much of numbers in this society. They can be useful, sure, but they should – at least in some cases – be taken with a grain of salt. And the idea that we, as women, keep our ages and weights a secret is hurtful to womanhood in general. I’m proud to be growing older and my weight is just a number. 190.

But I’m more than just the way my body looks. And I seriously, seriously tried to come up with something new to write here for you, but since I just wrote this list last week, I’m tapped out. Except I did knit an orca recently and that’s pretty interesting I think.

So how about you? Are you gonna go participate? I hope you do!
